Financial Stability Board (FSB) Regional Consultative Group (RGC) for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) met on May 4th in Istanbul.

The fifteenth RCG MENA meeting hosted by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) was held on May 4, 2019 in Istanbul under the co-chairmanship of the Governor Murat Çetinkaya and Qatar Central Bank Governor Abdulla Saoud Al-Thani.

Besides Turkey, representatives from member countries of Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and United Arab Emirates, as well as central bank representatives from Canada and Netherlands have participated in the meeting.

The RCG MENA discussed vulnerabilities, regional financial stability issues, market fragmentation in the MENA region and the effects of interest rate benchmark reforms on the region. The RCG MENA also exchanged information on financial stability surveillance frameworks.

The RCG MENA membership includes financial and regulatory authorities from Algeria, Bahrein, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
