Non-Performing Consumer Loans and Credit Cards

Non-Performing Consumer Loans and Credit Cards

The information exchange regarding non-performing consumer loans is currently being performed between the Central Bank (the bank hereinafter) and the banks pursuant to the implementation is based on the Regulation on Loan Loss Provisioning which was published in the Official Gazette No: 26333 dated November 1, 2006. The information exchange encompasses the exchange of basic identity information of individual borrowers of consumer loans and credit cards which have been transferred to the “Account for Receivables to be Liquidated”, in compliance with the Regulation on Loan Loss Provisioning.

Relating to operations of the system, the identity information of the bank customers who defaulted on their loans and the ones who paid back at a later stage are centralized by the Bank and are transferred to the banks which are members of the system on a monthly basis and kept by them as a reference source in their databases for further evaluation during the credit extension stage.

Within the system, the function of the Bank is limited with the transfer of the centralized information which is provided by the banks and the Bank neither takes part nor intervenes to the crediting process of banks. The individuals whose identity information is mistakenly reported to the Bank can be removed from the system upon the request of the banks and corrections can also be made in case of erroneous reporting upon the request of the banks.

The attached table is periodically edited for monitoring statistical development of consumer loans and credit card debtors data.
