Food and Agricultural Product Markets Monitoring and Evaluation Committee Convened 

The Food and Agricultural Product Markets Monitoring and Evaluation Committee (the Committee) met under the presidency of Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek. A summary of the agenda and decisions is given below.

  • Work on the technical infrastructure regarding the Early Warning System, intended to support stable supply and price formation for food products, was presented to the Committee and a framework for cooperation between the involved institutions was designed.
  • Proposals for alternative models on flexible foreign trade policies were evaluated, which will work in tandem with the Early Warning System, safeguard the sector’s interests, and step in, when necessary, to stabilize the supply and prices of food products; related institutions were authorized to carry through the necessary work. 
  • Endeavors to establish a road map and action plan for taking logistical measures to reduce product loss rates, strengthening the producer organizations, regulating competition conditions in wholesale and retail trade, developing private agricultural banking and reviewing the tax and incentive schemes in the agricultural sector were decided to be finalized.
  • A framework for the Committee’s institutional structure and communication strategy was determined.
