Food and Agricultural Product Markets Monitoring and Evaluation Committee Convened

The Food and Agricultural Product Markets Monitoring and Evaluation Committee (the Committee) met under the presidency of Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek. A summary of the agenda and decisions made is given below.

  • The Committee evaluated the signals obtained from the Early Warning System and decided to take a number of product-based measures that will yield results in the short-term.
  • Working sub-groups were established regarding subsidies, standardization and competition-enhancing measures to boost the efficiency of the food supply chain.
  • The Ministry of Customs and Trade presented information on measures and subsidies to minimize product losses during harvest, storage and transportation stages, on developments related to the enhancement of licensed warehouse capacity, on expanding specialized commodity exchanges, and on other logistical arrangements.
  • The Ministry of Economy delivered a presentation on the update of the Customs Union and its link to the agricultural sector.
  • Private sector representatives presented models of good agricultural practices and other best practices aimed at avoiding post-harvest losses and waste.
  • The agenda and the work schedule of the Committee were reviewed.
