Press Release on the Meeting of the Financial Stability Board Regional Consultative Group for the Middle East and North Africa

The Financial Stability Board (FSB) Regional Consultative Group (RCG) for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), co-chaired by the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) Governor Fatih Karahan, Ph.D., and Central Bank of Egypt Governor Hassan Abdalla, held a meeting hosted by the CBRT on November 13, 2025, in Istanbul.

Officials from the central banks, ministries of treasury and finance, and financial supervisory authorities of Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, the United Kingdom, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Tunisia, Oman, and Jordan attended the meeting, as well as representatives from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.

The meeting addressed global and regional vulnerabilities, the impact of debt sustainability on financial stability, the role of non-bank financial intermediaries in the region, and artificial intelligence and its use in finance.

The group members also exchanged information on the FSB's ongoing work in 2025 and its priorities for 2026.
